    Description

      Change request

Subject to FHIR-43718 (AU Base: Adoption of Gender Harmony Gender Identity data element) being added to the version of AU Base which AU Core R1 is based upon, this change request proposes the following:

      • AU Core R1 to adopt the AU Base profiling of Gender Harmony Gender Identity (GI) as a Must Support element in
      • AU Core Patient
      • AU Core Practitioner
      • AU Core RelatedPerson (if AU Core RelatedPerson is in scope for R1)
      • AU Core to implement support for Gender Harmony GI by:
      • Making the Individual Gender Identity FHIR extension a Must Support element in each profile while the extension remains optional (0..*).
      • NOTE: Given that the AU Base profiling of GHGI supports values such as "unknown", "not-asked" and "asked-declined", the requester would welcome a. discussion considering making GI mandatory (1..*) for some or all of the profiles.
      • In the profile specific implementation subsection on the profile page (see AU Core Patient and AU Core RelatedPerson and AU Core Practitioner) include the implementation guidance from AU Base Patient on use of the Individual Gender Identity extension.
      • In the Gender Identity and related concepts subsection on the profile page (see AU Core Patient and AU Core RelatedPerson and AU Core Practitioner) add the following statement:

      Gender Identity (GI)

By making Individual Gender Identity a Must Support data element, this profile explicitly supports representation and exchange of the Gender Identity (GI) data element (as defined in the Gender Harmony - Sex and Gender Representation, Edition 1 Implementation Guide __ from HL7 International).
