    Description

      The proposed ValueSet contains LOINC Class Codes which follow a pattern query: [LOINC {STATUS in

      {ACTIVE}

      , CLASSTYPE in {1}, CLASS exclude {CHALSKIN, H&P.HX.LAB, LABORDERS, NR STATS, PATH, PATH., MOLPATH, MOLPATH., CYTO, HL7.CYTOGEN, HL7.GENETICS}}.
      Presumably the intention was to exclude the values which are defined as out of scope, i.e. from histopathology and genetics.

      We see, that the chosen query algorithm might be too restrictive. Some of the excluded codes might be used in some cases for a good reason.

      https://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/fhir- ips//ValueSet-results-laboratory- observations-uv-ips.html

      Codes from LOINC classes „Cytology“, „Pathology“, „Molecular Pathology“ are excluded by choosing this pattern. The Observation ValueSet should be aligned to the entries in the “laboratory specialty” ValueSet.

      The choosen pattern query should be revisited whether it fits the
      in scope and out of scope definitions of the eHN guideline. It should be avoided that appropriate concepts will be excluded.

      In addition it has to be verified that the “US-centered” Classification of LOINC is also appropriate for the EU realm and usage in EU laboratories.
