Tube feeding / Enteral orders aren't specifically designated in the v2 ODS diet order segments, yet they function significantly differently from regular oral diets in most information systems.  The FHIR NutritionOrder resource recognizes this by making 'enteralFormula' a top-level diet type in addition to the existing Diet/Supplement/Preference concepts (as also defined in ODS-1's HL7-defined table 0159).

Given an EHR and dietary information system desire to better distinguish these tube-feeding orders from other types of diet orders (which are expected to be mutually exclusive from regular oral diets?), we propose adding the code "T" for "Tube feeding" in HL7 Table 0159 as a permitted code in ODS-1.
