We agree that standard terminology should be stable and any change that implementers must adopt should solve important problems and/or support critical exchange requirements. The changes included in the Gender Harmony Project are thought to meet these requirements.

All vocabulary changes in the Gender Harmony Project will apply across all HL7 products to minimize implementer burden.

    Description

Question:  #2 In order to ensure we stay in sync with vocabulary used to represent the Gender Harmony attributes of a person, please provide feedback on the definitions and associated terminology in the http://www.hl7.org/permalink/?GenderHarmonyIGBallot

Response:  'Standard' terminology should be somewhat static, vs. dynamic and ever changing. Some terminology changes impose significant changes to systems.

It is costly/burdensome to change 'standard' terminology annually (e.g., USCDI annual updates), including changing to mappings, quality assurance, system changes, roll out to clients, etc.
