Description
Current wording: "In order to support "name to use" to indicate how to address the patient, when that does not match their legal name, include an occurrence of Patient Name (PID-5), where the nametype code (PID-5.7) is valued 'N'."
Suggest moving or repeating the guidance for "name to use" to 3.4.2.5 so field level guidance is in the field definition. This also follows the precedence in the last paragraph (guidance for animals). Implementers may only read the field definition and miss the guidance in the segment introduction.
Name Type (PID-5.7) is defined in HL7 Table 0200. Please clarify the last sentence by adding "...is valued 'N' (Nickname/Call me Name/Street Name)".
Alternatively, could use Name type 'D' for "Customary Name" defined as "Known as/conventional/the one you use. May also be known as a preferred name."
