Description
The individual-recordedSexandGender extension supports the provision of a type code to categorize the sex or gender that is recorded, however the example value set (https://hl7.org/fhir/extensions/ValueSet-recorded-sex-or-gender-type.html) only supports codes for sex.
We have implementers in Alberta, Canada that are finding value in being able to structurally differentiate between the recorded sex and gender using the type element. However, they use a type of "AdministrativeGender" which is captured that way due to regulation, however there is no gender type currently included in the example value set that constrains to those LOINC codes.
Please include a type code that covers administrative gender (given the definition of type implies that is is used for both recorded sex and gender types. Either defined in the guide or via LOINC for this purpose.
We'd see incredible value in the Sex&Gender Harmony work for standardization and would like to standardize around the global definitions wherever possible (rather create new type codes in Canada to meet the need that is likely shared elsewhere).
