"Abstract" is used when a high-level profile is created that will be the basis for multiple child profiles and the expectation is that instances will always be validated against the children, never the abstract parent.  That's not the case here.  These are leaf-level profiles and, based on their use in other profiles, it's definitely the intention that resource instances will be validated against them.
