Since it is an Extension with a low maturity level, we will replace the current codeableReference element with the following data types:

      • CodeableConcept and
      • Reference(DocumentReference)

Note: This change to the data type was supported through multiple implementer feedback to be able to use it in R4 (Australia, Canada)

    Description

Currently, the RSG.sourceDocument.value data element's data type CodeableReference(DocumentReference) which makes it incompatible with versions of FHIR prior to R5 (and in particular R4) because it is not currently possible to representing CodeableReference values in versions of FHIR prior to R5.

It is therefore suggested that the following data types be added as alternative data type choices for RSG.sourceDocument.value:

      • CodeableConcept and
      • Reference(DocumentReference)
