      Background

       

      1) Based on similarly themed trackers in the past, ONC does not support limiting care setting scope for USCDI Data Classes and Elements. See this Discussion

      2) There is nothing in US Core that requires a system to support US Core MedicationDispense Profile.  US Core Implementation Guide CapabilityStatement states that to comply with US Core:

       

      FHIR RESTful Capabilities

      The US Core Server SHALL:

      1. Support the US Core Patient resource profile AND at least one additional resource profile from the list of US Core Profiles AND and all Must Support US Core Profiles and resources it references.

      Although we agree with the commenter that "Ambulatory care settings does not typically dispense medication."  This request should be redirected to ONC.   US Core does not make certification policies or document exemptions for certification criteria.  US Core defines data content models ( Profiles) and FHIR Rest APIs and documents how to use them.  Business-level workflows are implementation-specific and out of scope.

    Description

      Ambulatory care settings does not typically dispense medication. Is Ambulatory EHRs exempted from supporting this profile? If not, please provide clear guidance to accommodate ambulatory workflow to support this profile.
