    Description

      Adopt the HL7 Gender Harmony Pronouns data element and its corresponding FHIR extension (Individual Pronouns) from the FHIR Extensions Pack as follows:

      1. Terminology

      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

      <ValueSet xmlns="http://hl7.org/fhir">

          <id value="au-pronouns"/>

          <meta>

              <profile value="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/shareablevalueset"/>

          </meta>

          <extension url="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/structuredefinition-fmm">

              <valueInteger value="0"/>

          </extension>

          <url value="http://terminology.hl7.org.au/ValueSet/au-pronouns"/>

          <identifier>

              <system value="urn:ietf:rfc:3986"/>

              <value value="urn:oid:2.16.840.1.require-hl7au-oid"/>

          </identifier>

          <name value="AUPronouns"/>

          <title value="AU Pronouns"/>

          <status value="draft"/>

          <experimental value="false"/>

          <description value="This value set includes codes that indicate the pronouns to be used when communicating with or about an individual."/>

          <compose>

              <include>

                  <system value="http://loinc.org"/>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="LA29518-0"/>

                  </concept>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="LA29519-8"/>

                  </concept>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="LA29520-6"/>

                  </concept>

              </include>

              <include>

                  <system value="http://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem/data-absent-reason"/>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="asked-declined"/>

                  </concept>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="asked-unknown"/>

                  </concept>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="not-asked"/>

                  </concept>

                  <concept>

                      <code value="unknown"/>

                  </concept>

              </include>

          </compose>

      </ValueSet>

      2. Include the Pronouns FHIR extension (Individual Pronouns) as follows

      • Add the extension to the AU Base Patient, AU Base RelatedPerson and AU Base Practitioner AU Base profiles with 0..* cardinality.
      • Apply AU terminology constraints, i.e. extensible binding to the AU Pronouns value set (see 1 above).
      • Add profile specific implementation guidance to the profile pages leveraging existing AU Base Patient guidance
      • Note AU Base patient has Individual Pronouns extension, the change is to ensure the referenced extension is the core FHIR Extension and not a local redefinition (can now remove the local workaround with direct referencing of the extension).

      3. Remove the manual inclusion of the FHIR Extension Individual Pronouns (this was a workaround that is no longer required with direct referencing of the extension)

      4. Remove inclusion of the FHIR ValueSet Personal Pronouns (this was a workaround that is no longer required with direct referencing of the extension)

      5. Update the patient-example-sex-and-gender, example relatedperson-example-sex-and-gender, example practitioner-example-sex-and-gender examples to demonstrate use of the GH Pronouns data element.
