    Description

Data element: Specimen.type (Preferred binding to ValueSet „Laboratory Specimen Types“)

The ValueSet contains terms with specified body site e.g. Swab of eye, Heart valve tissue. The specimen type should be swab or tissue and should not include the body site. The body site should only be coded in data elementSpecimen.collection.bodySite.locati on, which includes a binding to SNOMED CT: Body structures.

We propose a thorough revision of the ValueSet for specimen type in context of information held elsewhere in the data model.

We propose to remove terms with specified body structure.
