Currently the binding on DeviceDefinition.productionIdentifierinUDI to Device Production Identifier in UDI is Required.  However, other identifiers may be of interest for other use cases, or of interest to a jurisdiction governing devices.

Propose to make the binding extensible and add language to indicate that jurisdictions may define other identifier types and, by way of regulation and/or implementation guidance, indicate which identifier(s) are to be used for that jurisdiction.
