Description
We propose clarifying that the scope is limited to the usage of Medication Adherence and Medication Instructions for medications qualifying as a type of Community or Discharge under the MedicationRequest Category Codes value set, which would generally encompass prescriptions and other medications consumed at home such as OTC. This is because a patient's adherence is not tracked as defined in USCDI for medications administered during inpatient or outpatient visits (i.e., medications qualifying as a type of Inpatient or Outpatient in the aforementioned value set) and specific instructions would not be given to a patient when a clinician is the one administering the medications. Clarifying this as the scope of medications which these data elements would apply to would reduce the opportunity for ambiguity on whether these items should be returned.
