We will update this portion of the specification to provide more clarity regarding the value of caret rules and how they are typically used.

We will also update the Assignment Rules section of the specification to provide additional information and examples for assigning values to caret paths. We will link to this new section from the Caret Paths section to provide additional context for their use.

    Description

This part is a bit vague. The examples of the paths are clear. Why they are needed and what are typical uses is less clear. The section would be improved with a reference to examples where these paths are used and a rationale what it brings. This would help understanding why these are required. I suggest adding these. Possibly as a separate example section page that explains some examples.
