Description
Patient Admin is working on FHIR-42126, and is currently leaning toward clarifying that Endpoint.managingOrganization is the organization providing helpdesk support for when the endpoint isn't functioning, and Organization.endpoint is how you represent the relationship between the endpoint and the steward/owner of data expressed via the endpoint. That isn't voted on yet (on the agenda for WGM, Wed Q1).
In the Patient Access Brands Endpoint profile, we are using Endpoint.managingOrganization to represent the link between the endpoint and the brand.
- The National Directory project is using Organization.endpoint for a similar purpose.
- ONC has suggested Organization.endpoint in their proposed HTI-1
- PA is likely clarifying that Organization.endpoint is the appropriate directional link for this information.
For these reasons, we likely want to update the Patient Access Brand profiles to remove the Endpoint.managingOrganization link and instead use Organization.endpoint for the link.
We may want to consider updating the Brands section that is going in to the SMART IG before we ballot it so we don't have to untangle it later.
