    Description

      Hi.

Toward the end of the page, we have (emphasis mine):

It is recommended that the Id field in a resource be used to record the ID of the corresponding resource imported from a received bundle. This should simplify mapping for subsequent bundles received from the sending FHIR API.

What exactly does this mean? I interpret this to mean the resource ID from the previous payer can be preserved in the new payer's repository to simplify future updates; however, this doesn't work if the incoming resource ID is already used in the new payer's repository.

      1. Is there another "Id field"?
      2. Could this be a typo referring to an identifier field?
      3. Does this mean to preserve the previous payer's resource ID as part of the new payer's resource ID? e.g. inbound Observation/123 becomes Observation/{prefix-unique-to-previous-payer}123 or Observation/payer-abc-123

As discussed Zulip, this is probably a typo referring to an identifier field, not an id field. Please correct as appropriate.
