We will update the $match operation to clarify the that the output Bundle is a searchset bundle.  We will use similar language to what is in the $everything operation:

      The bundle type is "searchset"

We did review the other Patient operations that return bundles.  $match was the only operation that did not clearly specify the bundle type.

    Description

There are several hints that the returned Bundle in a successful $match is a searchset, but that isn't explicitly stated anywhere:

...indicating which properties are required in the search.

...it may also contain an OperationOutcome with further information about the search results...

If there are no patient matches, the MPI SHALL return an empty search set with no error, but may include an operation outcome with further advice regarding patient selection. All patient records SHALL have a search score from 0 to 1, where 1 is the most certain match, along with an extension "match-grade" that indicates the MPI's position on the match quality.

Clarify that the returned Bundle is a searchset, and what the expected values of search-related elements are (mode, total, self/next/previous link, etc.). (Or if not a searchset, clarify what type of Bundle the results are.)

Clarify whether paging is permitted (e.g., "The Bundle may contain a next link for additional results.")
