    Description

We strongly believe that the Citation resource should remain in FHIR.

      From Pete Krautscheid (MITRE):

Even though Citation is not specific to healthcare it's valuable in a healthcare context and it's helpful to have a consistent standard to use for all health IT purposes.

      From Marc Hadley (MITRE):

Citations of evidence are a critical aspect of evidence-based medicine and a standard FHIR representation of citations is an important component of the EBM on FHIR project.

From Carmela Couderc (formerly MITRE, now ONC):

The AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality) CEDAR (Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement Evidence Discovery and Retrieval) project is in support of adding the Citation resource to FHIR Core. This resource is used extensively in the CEDAR reference implementation to provide information about digital artifacts available in CEPI repositories.
