On discussion the patient sex element should be mapped to "clinical sex".

The IG uses the US Core Patient. Currently the US Core Patient does not have a published version of the sex for clinical use extension (https://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/US-Core/StructureDefinition-us-core-sex-for-clinical-use.html).

Yes, we will align with gender harmony as we will make a copy of https://build.fhir.org/ig/HL7/US-Core/StructureDefinition-us-core-sex-for-clinical-use.html for use in this IG. (Will update to point to the published US Core version in a later release of the IG). (See ~~FHIR-38260~~).

Description

The notice to ballot commenters (8) states that the Patient sex is mapped to Patient.gender, not birth sex. There is no patient profile in this IG.

I'm wondering where that mapping is happening and also, will this be in line with the guidance from the Gender Harmony project which begins balloting on Sept 14.
