Description
There are times when a provider does not want to continue to receive gap notifications
- they have addressed a gap but it will take a period of time to get the results, complete the paperwork, etc.
- a gap they received is not valid for the member and they believe it should be "dismissed"
If the gap remains on the report, it creates extra work for the provider if only to wade through the list. The provider might trust less in what the gap report shows and what they truly need to address.
Typically these "soft close" are only good for a period of time and if the issue is not fully closed with data in the case of waiting for results, etc or the chart review does not indicate the gap should be dismissed, they will start appearing on the gaps in care report again. (this functionality is up to the payer to define but from an IG perspective, the date of the "soft close" would be important to capture.
