Add the following codes the CharacteristicMethod code system:

      • Systematic Assessment: Any method of routinely determining whether or not certain adverse events have occurred, for example through a standard questionnaire, regular investigator assessment, regular laboratory testing, or other method
      • Non-Systematic Assessment: Any non-systematic method for determining whether or not adverse events have occurred, such as self-reporting by participants or occasional assessment/testing

Remove the Default code from the CharacteristicMethod code system.

The CharacteristicMethod value set is the complete value set for the code system and is the example binding for the characteristic.method element of EvidenceVariable.

    Description

EvidenceVariable.characteristic.method has an Example binding with no useful values.  For 876,381 instance of the "SeriousEventAssessmentType" element in ClinicalTrial.gov results data, there are only 2 values:

      • Systematic Assessment: Any method of routinely determining whether or not certain adverse events have occurred, for example through a standard questionnaire, regular investigator assessment, regular laboratory testing, or other method
      • Non-Systematic Assessment: Any non-systematic method for determining whether or not adverse events have occurred, such as self-reporting by participants or occasional assessment/testing

These 2 values should be converted to the Example for CharacteristicMethod value set.
