ResearchStudy.site references Location Resource to provide details about research study sites. However the Location Resource does not handle multiple concepts needed to fully map ClinicalTrials.gov data to FHIR, including LocationStatus and LocationContactName elements in the ClinicalTrials.gov API XML.

Suggestion to create a ResearchLocation Profile of Location which includes:

1) SiteRecruitmentStatus value set for use with Location.operationalStatus

2) extension:contact element which contains 4 elements (name, role, telecom, address)
