Description
An instance of MedicationKnowledge.administrationGuideline may need to specify what kind of intent (e.g.; prophylactic, supportive, curative, diagnostic…) it is associated with, without needing to specify the precise dosages that are admitted. For instance, the guideline may be used to convey an indication expressed in the summary of product characteristics , like “curative treatment of diabetes type 2” , without wanting to express any specifics about the dosage.
Two possible solutions to address this need:
- Convey the intent in dosage.type (as currently suggested by the spec), allowing to use dosage.type without dosage.dosage, by relaxing cardinalities of dosage.dosage from 1..* to 0..*, and changing the name from “type” to “intent” to make it clearer.
- Add an extra element administrationGuideline.intent / 0..1 / CodeableConcept / Definition: drug administration intent associated for this guideline
