      1. Add the following text to the definition of the Code System.
        1. In the context of this CodeSystem, subsumption is defined in the FHIR specification at the following link:   /codesystem.html#subsumption
      2. Change the definitions of each of the 4 concepts in the Code System to the following:
        1. Subsumes:  A subsumes B if there is a subsumption relationship between A and B
        2. Equivalent: A equivalent to B if A subsumes B and B subsumes A
        3. Not subsumed: neither A subsumes B nor B subsumes A
        4. Subsumed by: A subsumed by B if B subsumes A

    Description

      The ValueSet http://hl7.org/fhir/ValueSet/concept-subsumption-outcome has codes:

      • equivalent
      • subsumes
      • subsumed-by
      • not-subsumed

      The definition of not-subsumed as:

Coding/code “A” and Coding/code “B” are disjoint (e.g. each has propeties that the other doesn’t have).

is too strong and creates a gap in the semantic space where one should not exist (the four values should be exhaustive), and “disjoint” is a much stronger statement than just “not subsumed” since the former excludes overlaps, while the latter does not.
