      Description

As for the unit of measurement in dispenseRequest, a more broadly used codeset like NCIT or UCUM should be used, instead of NCPDP 600-28.

Additionally, as stated in the IG, NCPDP code set 600-28 is only available to NCPDP members. Does it imply that the implementation of RTPBC via FHIR will require NCPDP membership?

      Existing Wording:

      Concept examples
The up-to-date content of the NCPDP Unit of Measure (600-28) code set is available to NCPDP members.

However, a past version of the code set is publicly available in the AHRQ United States Health Information Knowledgebase (USHIK). Below is the full set of concepts from that public source.

      Code Display
      EA Each
      GM Gram
      ML Milliliter

      Proposed Wording:

As for the unit of measurement in dispenseRequest, a more broadly used codeset like NCIT or UCUM should be used, instead of NCPDP 600-28.
