Description
An attribute of an answer to a categorical question is now called Ordinal Value. This is the attribute used to calculate a total score in survey instruments. It could be used for other purposes but we don't have any specific examples of such usage. We argue for the name "score" instead of ordinal value because 1) the its data type is decimal not ordinal. 2) the most common use is as score that is aggregated across the scores of all of the responses in a survey interment to get a total score, so the relevance and meaning of the attribute will be clearer to implementers and users.
