Description
Hello ,
This is a follow up from the chat with Lloyd McKenzie - https://chat.fhir.org/#narrow/stream/implementers/topic/FamilyMemberHistory
In pregnancy , when a patient has a booking appointment with a midwife , she needs to record family member history for a patient from both maternal and paternal side. Here the invidial member is not relvant , just the fact that patient has a family history of certain conditions from either side. Midwife could also offer genetic counselling if found that baby's father is in blood relationship with mother, first cousin, second cousin, or simply a blood relative.
RelationType currently does not include codes to define relationships that are in play to cover above requirements. Code - family comes close but there is no qualifier to say maternal or paternal. Could we extend the value-set to allow following codes ?
maternal_family, paternal_family, first_cousin, second_cousin, blood_relative
Thanks !
