The proposed change would not be appropriate as errata (as it adds a new SHALL conformance requirement for the value@unit).

If this change were to be implemented in the future, the proper method for doing so would be to define child templates corresponding to each of the identified Vital Sign Result Types where Observation.code and Observation.value@unit could be fixed to the appropriate values.

    Description

We currently have the following guidance in the Vital Sign Observation template description:

The following is a list of recommended units for common types of vital sign measurements:

      Name Unit
      PulseOx %
      Height/Head Circumf cm
      Weight kg
      Temp Cel
      BP mm[Hg]
      Pulse/Resp Rate /min
      BMI kg/m2
      BSA m2
      inhaled oxygen concentration %

While this guidance is helpful, it would have more impact as a conformance statement.  Recommend adding the following conformance statement beneath existing CONF:1098-31579:

      1. The units SHALL be as follows:PulseOx and inhaled oxygen concentration is % , Height and Head circumference is cm, weight is kg, Temperature is Cel, Pulse and Respiratory Rate is /min, BMI is kg/m2, BSA is m2 (CONF:1098-32958).
