Description
The definitions for GT1-9 (Guarantor Administrative Sex) and IN1-43 (Insured's Administrative Sex) contradict the element names in that they contain the word "gender" instead of "sex". We should update those definitions to clarify how those fields are intended to be used in relation to the other Gender Harmony project related changes in this version, particularly the new GSP, GSR and GSC segments that are defined in Chapter 3 and used in some message structures in Chapter 6. I'm not certain but I think the intention for IN1-43 was to align with the X12 2010C (Subscriber Demographic Information) loop DMG03 (Gender Code) element. So, we should be clear that these fields are intended for financial purposes only and do not indicate anything about the subscriber's or guarantor's clinical sex or gender identity. The FM work group might want to consult with the PA work group to ensure that the revised definitions of GT1-9 and IN1-43 are consistent with any changes they make to the PID-8 definition as part of V2-25410.
