Description
Currently the FHIR Record Lifecycle Event Implementation Guide (RLE IG) is part of FHIR Core (http://hl7.org/fhir/ehrsrle/ehrsrle.html). This project will remove it from FHIR Core and establish a new independent IG. The first iteration will be based on FHIR R4.0.1 and subsequent updates will keep step with FHIR Release iterations (e.g., R5 and onward).
The FHIR RLE IG is based on ISO 21089, Health Informatics - Trusted end-to-end information flows, and the Record Infrastructure Sections of ISO/HL7 10781 Electronic Health Record System Functional Model (R2/R2.1) and ISO/HL7 16527 Personal Health Record System Functional Model (R2). The FHIR RLE IG specifies how to implement health record management, including record lifespan and lifecycle events, using FHIR resources (specifically AuditEvent and Provenance). Effectively the FHIR RLE IG describes how and EHR/PHR/HIT system (software) manages entries in the EHR/PHR/HIT record (data).
