Description
The QI-Core [NutritionOrder|http://hl7.org/fhir/us/qicore/STU5/StructureDefinition-qicore-nutritionorder.html] profile was created to meet a perceived need for a single measure seeking to identify exclusive substance feedings for newborns in the hospital. The NutritionOrder concept was the most FHIR R4 offered but it did not meet the need for the measure intent and there has been no use of the profile in known measures. Further a NutritionOrder basically addresses a type of diet, not necessarily and order for a specific nutrient although the order may allow specification of a nutrient to add to a diet. The existing MustSupport elements do not provide sufficient information to express measure or CDS needs and the FHIR Resource is still at low maturity level. Therefore, the existing QI-Core profile does not meet the intended purpose.
