2023-02-20 Discussion at GHP main meeting:

The DICOM code will be removed from the recorded sex or gender value set.

In addition the Gender Identity LOINC code 76691-5  will be removed to reduce confusion with the actual gender identity element.

Add the LOINC code SEX [AHRQ] https://loinc.org/74698-2/ to insure we have three examples in the value set.

Change the binding for the recordedSexOrGender.type to be an example binding rather than preferred.

    Description

DICOM 0010,0040 is the tag (id number) of the Patient Sex attribute, which is not defined in the DICOM ontology, but in the Registry of DICOM Data Elements, which-I don't believe-has a code system. Please confirm with DICOM and/or Imaging Integration WG.

Interestingly DICOM does have a wide range of sex concepts-see PS3.16 Table CID 7455, Table CID 7457-that are present in the DICOM ontology, but aren't used in tag 0010,0040.
