We will add a profile for PractitionerRole that will reference either a Practitioner or an Organization.  We will then change the PASClaim.provider and PASClaimInquiry.provider to reference the new PractitionerRole profile as well as the existing Requester Organization profile.  We will also change the PASClaimResponse.requestor and PASClaimInquiryResponse.requestor to reference the new PractitionerRole profile.

    Description

The EHR vendor we are working with has the need to communicate individual providers in the PAS Provider field.  The payer involved in this project also prefers to receive information about the specific individual provider initiating the authorization request.  Based on the current Da Vinci PAS Implementation guide the Provider field references only the PAS Requestor Organization . We believe this field should be enhanced to allow for either an organization or an individual provider as the authorization requestor.  It appears that either an organization or an individual provider is allowed in a corresponding 278 transaction.
