Description
Since the BT version, in the Definitions section of the NCPDP Imp Guide, “product” has been defined as: An item that is manufactured for sale. A product may be a medication, medical device or supply, or vaccine.
NCPDP provides a standard for reformatting product identifiers (e.g., NDC, UPC, UDI, GTIN) into an 11-digit product identifier for use in NCPDP transactions. Drug data compendia follow the Product Identification Standard for listing products in their files.
