To date, no eCQMs in CMS programs or testing have used Flag. However, clinical decision support artifacts may use specific flags as triggers to drive new activities. For example, entry of a new flag code = 219006 Alcohol User might drive a recommendation regarding counseling.

Working with our quality team, we could not understand how Flag will be used in the quality measurement. Would appreciate learning more
