      Updating to SHOULD makes sense, as beginning with $ is best practice. However, we do not believe this should be required, because other conventions (such as using CAPITALS) have been used to visually distinguish aliases.

    Description

      Alias names MAY begin with $. Choosing alias names beginning with $ allows for additional error checking (see Defining Aliases for details).

      Why not strengthen this language into a SHOULD or SHALL? It will make reading shorthand a lot easier.
