DRAFT MOTION IN PROGRESS - Proposed motion to:

      1) Update the Device.status definition to:

      Code Display Definition
active Active The device record is current and is appropriate for reference in new instances.
inactive Inactive The device record is not current and is not appropriate for reference in new instances.
entered-in-error Entered in Error The device record was created erroneously and is not appropriate for reference in new instances.

Removing the unknown status in accordance with the pattern.

And clarify to the submitter that Devices.status is about the record, while operationalStatus and associationStatus are about other aspects of the device.

      2) Remove Device.statusReason.

      3) Add Device.availabilityStatus as 0..1 with reason and sample values: lost, damaged, destroyed, and available (default) as extensible.  Include it after Device.associationStatus.

    Description

If so, then it isn't accurate to say that this is a status of the record - it's become a status of the device. If it's fine to have 'active' records for non-available/functional/existing devices, don't you need a place to capture the status of the device too?
