Multi-Language Support (languages)
Description
See multi-language questionnaires
Document how separate translation files (in the formats typically used for product translation, e.g. xliff) can be used to produce multi-language questionnaires, and other resources.
This may involve:
- Storing the translation in a Binary or DocumentReference
- Defining a translation key extension that can be applied to elements (such as Questionnaire.item.item)
- Defining a mechanism to link the translation file back to the source resource (DocumentReference.related?)
- Defining a mechanism to retrieve a translated resource (HTTP language headers)?
- For Questionnaires, define expected validation behaviour (e.g. Questionnaire response content doesn't match the Questionnaire text)
The above is describes using Questionnaire as the example, but could likely be extended to other resource types. In particular, I believe separate translation files are useful for all "definitional" resources – anything with a (versioned) canonical url.
It should be possible to manage the resource, e.g. Questionnaire, separately from the translation. The translation resource should be in a form output by the common translation tools.
