Description
It seems that this sort of clarification could also be accomplished using the NCPDP SCRIPT RxChangeRequest transaction. The NCPDP SCRIPT guide states that the RxChangeRequest “. . . may be used to request drug use evaluation information, to clarify a prescription or request prescriber credential validation.” This HL7 guide also references early on that NCPCP SCRIPT is used to send the initial prescription to the specialty pharmacy. We suggest adding clarification/guidance as to when the Specialty Rx Query vs. the NCPDP SCRIPT RxChangeRequest be used to obtain clarification on a specialty medication prescription.
