The US Encounter Type Value set CLD includes:

• Include codes from http://snomed.info/sct where concept is-a 308335008 (Patient encounter procedure)
• Include all codes defined in http://www.ama-assn.org/go/cpt

All of CPT is not appropriate for encounters. The C-CDA value set for encounter type could be re-used -https://vsac.nlm.nih.gov/valueset/2.16.840.1.113883.3.88.12.80.32/expansion  but does not use SNOMED.

• Inclusion Criteria:
  CPT codes found in the following CPT sections: 99201-99499 E/M 99500-99600 home health (mainly nonphysician, such as newborn care in home) 99605-99607 medication management 98966-98968 non physician telephone services

Is SNOMED used by vendors for encounter type?

This CPT set has been used in C-CDA for many years.
