Other comments already applied to this paragraph mean that the "existing" is now:

Expressions are made up of terms (literals or identifiers) combined using operators, either symbolic operators, such as + and -, operator phrases such as and and exists, or named operators called functions, such as First() and AgeInYears().

And this comment should be applied to make it now say:

      Description

The nesting of different lists was a little confusing.

      Existing Wording:

Expressions are built by combining terms, such as literals and identifiers, using operators, either symbolic operators, such as + and -, operator phrases such as and and exists, or named operators called functions, such as First() and AgeInYears().

      Proposed Wording:

Expressions are built by combining terms, such as literals and identifiers, and using operators. Operators can either be symbolic operators, such as + and -, operator phrases such as and and exists, or named operators called functions, such as First() and AgeInYears().
