Agreed, will update this section as follows:

FHIR R4 addresses NutritionOrder with a maturity level of 2 but is limited to use for acute care diet orders. FHIR R5 work is progressing and it will include NutritionIntake and NutritionProduct with further details in an anticipated domain analysis model. However, currently FHIR only addresses acute care setting diet orders. C-CDA allows specification of acute care setting diet orders (Nutrition Order) and ambulatory setting diet orders (Nutrition Recommendation). FHIR R4 NutritionOrder only addresses acute care setting diet orders. The approach for FHIR R5 is currently in development.

    Description

The statements contained with in this material are incorrect and inaccurate. Nutrition resources are discussed on an Orders and Observations subgroup call, however the questions implied in this document were never brought forward to the nutrition subgroup. Furthermore, the documentation states the NutritionOrder resource is being replaced by the NutritionIntake resource; this is inaccurate. NutritionOrder will remain a resource, will continue to be pursued to mature, and is not being replaced. NutritionIntake is a NEW resource that will be used to capture the event of consuming food or fluid. If a particular nutrient is to be ordered, NutritionOrder should still be used as it does have elements within it to order specific nutrients; NutritionIntake would then be used to capture the consumption of that nutrient.

      Existing Wording:

...measure developers were able to reach out to the stewards of the resource through the Orders and Observations HL7 Work Group to bring their use case to a forum for discussion. Specifically, the measurement use case involved ordering of a specific nutrient, exclusive of other nutrients, rather than an order for a diet, which is what the NutritionOrder resource supported. This discussion revealed that the NutritionOrder resource is being replaced by the NutritionIntake resource in future versions of FHIR...
