CIMI has developed a number of qualifier parameters on wound conditions. Examples include wound bed, colour, shape, size, exudate, etc

CIMI proposes that these qualifier parameters are modelled as profiles.

This approach will lead to proliferation of profiles, introducing maintenance sustainability challenges.

At the February 2020 Sydney WGM joint meeting between CIMI and PCWG, it was proposed and voted affirmative in support of adding a Condition.qualifier backbone structure that include similar structure in the Observation resource:

Condition.qualifier (qualitative and/or quantitative descriptions of wound characteristics)

                 - characteristics (codeableConcept)

                 - value[x]

CIMI members will join the PCWG FHIR call to discuss the request in detail.
