The representation of multi-tab application's context is complex and ought to require additional validation, implementation experience and feedback that we simply don't currently have.

The discussed expectation is that a multi-tabbed application switching to a Home workspace should not trigger a FHIRcast event, and this behavior should be determined by implementers based upon their support for patient-less workspaces, multiple workspaces and the desired interoperable behavior. The specification does not prescribe this behavior.

We will additionally create non-normative guidance discussing how implementers may address multi-tabbed and single tabbed applications, particularly around the behavior resulting from two patient-opens (or imaginstudy-opens) in succession.

    Description

How does a multi-tabbed application inform other synchronized applications that it is activating a tab that doesn't have a patient context, while leaving open, but deactivated other patient tabs. Can a system send a patient-open without a patient?
