Description
What is the best way to represent identifiers that are common across hospital systems? For example, hospital systems in the US commonly have an Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) and a National Provider Index (NPI). Is there some standardized way to capture these in FHIR since they are prevalent across hospital systems? Currently our approach has been to incorporate these as identifiers within resources.
