Requesting that the CMS Certification Number (CCN) is added as another example of an identifier supplied by a jurisdictional authority. 

In 2007, CMS replaced the Medicare Provider Number, Medicare Identification Number or OSCAR Numbers with the CCN.  The CCN is used to verify Medicare/Medicaid certification for survey and certification, assessment-related activities, and communications. Additionally, CMS data systems use the CCN to identify each individual provider or supplier that has or currently does participate in Medicare and/or Medicaid.

This includes the requirement that the hospital CCN is contained within the QRDA Category I document and, so we presume, it will be required with the hospital's DEQM document.

NPI preferred (http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/us-npi), Tax id is allowed (http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/us-tin), Local id is allowed in addition to another identifier supplied by a jurisdictional authority such as a practitioner's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) number and CMS Certification Number (CCN) numbers.
