    Description

At the IHE meeting during discussions of the IHE PRIM profile, and other profiles including mother/child need. We noticed that the Patient.link element seems to have technical support for RelatedPerson relationships to support family members. However the narrative definition of the Patient.link element and sub-elements are still focused ONLY on use of .link to identify other Patient resources that reference the SAME individual. IHE has interpreted this conflict to follow the apperant intent to allow use of .link for RelatedPerson. We would encourage a change to clarify this interpretation. IHE will follow the progression of this CR to influence multiple specifications we have in publication, for future revisions when FHIR R5 is published.
